TO THE VICTOR GO THE SPOILS

"ROME" 2009 THE BULL RING....

SPECTATORS FROM FAR AND WIDE

CHEERING ON THE GLADIATORS

IPL AT THE BULL RING...WANDERERS STADIUM JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA

the IPL came and went. the BULLS (rugby) smashed the opposition this weekend. Chelsea took the FA cup final. can someone please explain to me the zealousness with which people worship sports.
we fill the arenas cheering our teams on, much like gladiators in a ring, and the crowds dance, cheer stomp their feet and consume copious amounts of indigestible junk, litres of beer, go home intoxicated with the win, only to do it all again come next weekend.

i marvel at the phenomenon, and admire the industry it has all become, their are potloads of money to be made and the organisers, advertisers, promoters, owners are astute businessmen, who dish out what people crave, and make themselves rich, while the belching masses, get intoxicated by the adrenaline rush of supporting some or other team.

so when reporters lament the demise of the gentleman's game of cricket, lounging on the lawns for five days, sipping champagne and eating cucumber sandwiches, i have to say, catch a wake up dude, it's no longer the era of white shirted, parasol carrying spectators, with inherited wealth, puffing on pipes. it's all about mass marketing, and keeping the masses in a state of euphoria, so we forget the crap in our lives.

it was bound to happen to cricket,...the likes of the IPL,...why should it not, a shorter money making enterprise, which keeps people entertained and happy.its a sign of the times, evolution, for the better? you decide.....
