rain, rain and more rain

king of the rainy household

azaad up on all fours

starting to feel like a drowned "cat" wanted to say rat, but a rat i'm definitely not.it has rained incessantly for three days and there is no sign of the rain abating any time soon.grey skies and cold weather, makes grey gloomy people, i am finally realising why the english are always so cold and aloof, miserable people, cause, the weather is just that miserable.

this has been a singularly horrible summer, rainy and cold for the greater part of the season, south africa, and johannesburg in particular, has a glorious summer season, blue skies, sunshine,...and on the odd day, the highveld thunder storm, the rains come down in a huge torrent, accompanied by a light and sound show, the lightning streaking the sky, followed by rumbling thunder, the world turns and angry grey, and the elements unleash their power for an hour or two.we have come to love and expect our thunder showers, this however seems to be a thing of the past.

instead we have cold grey permanently wet days, the kind of rain and cold that seeps into your bones, making you long for bed, hot chocolate and popcorn.which is where i would prefer to be at this moment,...instead here i am lamenting the weather and dealing with calls about delayed container deliveries, and who is going to be responsible for additional chargers, what a life we lead?

i spent some time rolling around on the floor, with cute nephew who will be 7 months old on monday, time passes far too rapidly,he however does not seem to mind the weather, life from the living room floor is filled with colour and attentive family members, who all rush into the room to watch him roll onto his tummy, then up on hands and knees. the adults find all of this fascinating, and every move is considered and discussed, like the finer points of a great novel. he really just wants to move his body towards some or other toy, or his grandfathers toes, and the movement consists of flinging his body in the appropriate direction. when this happens, the adults in the area, are consumed with amazement. "oh my gosh! did u see that? azaad moved forward" or cries of "his crawling" hello his just learning to keep himself upright in a sitting position, can get up on hands and knees, then proceed to get himself in a position that looks like a fancy martial arts stance, but crawling not quite yet.

i am most amazed though at the amount of fascination all this holds for us adults, i find myself rushing for camera, at every flick of an eyelid, a lot of this is perhaps because he is the first grandchild in the house, when number two or three arrives the novelty will have worn thin, in the meantime he can take my mind off this incessant rain.

He looks bigger than seven months. Kids are wonderful, just watching them is entertainment, what better way to spend a wet afternoon? Enjoy!
