Benazir Bhutto: Overwhelmed With Emotion

thought i'd post this little snippet. are the tears and emotions for real, or is this just political grandstanding.? being south african i know what the trauma of exile can do to people,..so i am sympathetic.BB has always struck me as an intelligent and strong woman, to be a woman and prime minister of an islamic country, well that is a helluva achievement.i don't think that politics in pakistan is an easy "game" for that matter it is dirty all over the world, power, money and men a pretty lethal combination, yet she managed to become prime minister twice.

on the corruption chargers, sham or reality? who can really say it's politics. if she manages to ride the storm, and bring "democracy" to pakistan or atleast a dispensation that would see growth and economic advancement that in itself would be a victory. i don't see general musharaff wanting to give up his hold on power,so the lady is in for a tough time.

good luck BB. it is going to be interesting watching the unfolding of the political situation in pakistan.

Sorry but this woman is useless, corrupt, dishonest and totally incompetent. Its all a sham. She only became the pm because the army put her there and now she is back because she is more presentable compared to the others. She is rubbish.
I can't think of one thing she has done which would redeem her.

There, I have vented. If you want more details lets me know.

yep, please....now that is an honest out pouring.what i know, are just media tit bits, not really enamoured of musharaf, i thought she might present a more enlightened view, seems i am wrong.
what is the deal?

where does one start? she is a phony, has no depth whatsoever. has been in power twice, what did she do? zilch. just because she has speaks english and does not wear a hijab, people think that she is better than the mullahs. she is responsible for the taleban getting where they did in afghanistan. for her its all about power, being the heir to her family legacy. and absolute power that all third world warlords aspire for. the reason she is back is because the tin star general has been told that he needs to put somebody in office who will at least pay lip service to what they want to show to the world. the poor hired spectators who were put on buses and shipped to karachi really dont know any better.

so she gets to be, the puppet, with some other maniac pulling the strings.the moderate face of secular politics? some such drivel and the situation gets worse not better.
any ideas on what the way forward could be, elections are a sham, and the political establishment remains the same, just a different colour dress

the answer to your question, what will work? i frankly don't know. i would think that a benevolent secular oligarchy. that is why everytime there is usurping of the so-called elected government, the peasants rejoice. because once again there is hope, the people think that their saviour might have arrived finally. and they are usually disappointed. look at our history, it tells the story.

anyway, i am the eternal pessimist when it comes to us as a nation and a country. we have not paid attention to education, and the corrupt rulers have been too filling their coffers to worry about anything else.

we are screwed!!

:)....screwed seems to be all "third world" countries, what those in power say, to be in power never translates into what they really do.
fight a revolution, get into power then behave the same as the previous dingbats that were in power, just a different day and another dress.
