where does time go
the jacaranda in our garden
the coconut biscuits
do you ever get those days, when you realise that people miss things you used to do, and now you just don't have the time to do.
last weekend, i had some time on my hands,...so i finally took some time to bake, ya,..bake. my dad loves coconut biscuits, and he was driving to the coast the next day,so in a spirit of generosity, more like my eager anticipation of having the house to myself for a full week, i set to baking.
i packed, him lunch, chilled his drinks, and saw him off at 5am the next morning, i think he called me 10 times that day, to thank me, then little brother called so happy to see the home baked biscuits, next it was mum.i tried to remember the last time, i baked it was 2 years ago.what on earth do we do with time, that, the simple act of baking some biscuits, waits a year or two.
summer finally reached johannesburg, i hope my enthusiasm and enjoyment of the 30 degree temperatures, doesn't jinx the weather for the rest of the season, the jacaranda's are in full bloom, and johannesburg is awash in a sea of green and violet, it has an amazing effect on my mood.my 5 month old nephew had his first swim , not wanting to be left out i braved the pool, despite my "brave" entry, one toe at a time, the cool water was bliss, the point is to ensure that i use the pool, more than just this once,...like the biscuits i just never seem to have the time.johannesburg at this time of the year, is incredibly beautiful, the city is green, washed clean by the summer thunderstorms, jo'burgers populate the city outdoor eateries, making the most of blue sky's and sunny days.
there's that feeling in the air of the year coming to a close, who would have thought it, the 15th of november 2007, where has the year gone.a friend said the other day, there is just no "barakat" in time anymore.i am off to a deserved weeks break at the coast, next week, and i hope to get some great pics, to post here, this country is incredibly beautiful. despite my numerous posts, objecting to the political going's on, crime, etc, etc. i would never choose to be anywhere else, our president made on of his most famous and eloquently poetical speeches, titled "i am an African", quoted in a previous post, it is summer days, like these that epitomise
the spirit of that speech, despite his numerous faux pas, when it comes to aids, arms deals, the struggle for supremacy in the ANC or manto, that speech is what south africans are truly about,a rainbow nation under the summer sun.
