sunday morning

SUNSHINE IN THE GARDEN...

RUNNERS,STRUGGLING TO THE FINISH LINE :)

sunday morning, and it's a glorious gauteng winters day,..the sky's are blue, the sun is shining brightly, which gives me hope that we are seeing the last of the winter chill.

i've survived wedding numero uno, with grace, yet i feel exhausted this morning, got out to pick up the sunday paper, and saw yet another road race, passing around our house,we are at a point where the last leg of the race passes, and one of the helpers has his red flag out shouting encouragement,to racers to walk/crawl/jog to the finish line, "the end is in sight," he shouts,"just a little further down hill, your team mates have reached the finish line, thanks for participating."

all the while i'm thinking it's sunday morning, i feel like the morning after the night before, and these jo'burgers have been running a road race since the early hours of this morning.there are people out walking their dogs to, perhaps the dogs were entered in this race, i have no idea, it's great to see that people are keen on fitness, even though i feel heavy headed, the runners, are going home to enjoy a hearty breakfast, and the adrenaline pumping in their veins this morning is bound to see them through this day,in a happy frame of mind.it really is a johannesburg outdoor day.

this glorious weather, is really why we are a nation of people who live the old adage,"early to bed, early to rise",..we spend a substantial amount of our day, outdoors enjoying physical activity,so by the time 9pm roles around,we are hitting the sack,...the down side is there are rarely any places, to eat out at, when you crave a midnight snack :) most kitchens, (except of course your mothers)close by 10 pm.

i truly believe, that after 42 years of marriage, my dad loves his wife. he rose early this morning,to drive mum and her sisters,2 hours out of Johannesburg, to another province,no less....to yet another wedding function,...he had me going for a minute, when he roused me from sleep, to parcel the gift, and very seriously explained, that i would have to drive the sisters,...one eye open,my head throbbing, the pooky expression making it's way across my face,i stamped down my foot, with an emphatic no.this had him in stitches,....as all he wanted was my belligerent response. i was roused from sleep though to parcel the gift,i missed the wedding, but it still reached me in some form,...like a gremlin in my closet.

i intend to spend the day, drinking litres of water, reading something new, haven't decided what yet,or perhaps i will remain in my jammies all day, snoozing. a lazy sunday wouldn't be a bad idea.
