strike boys strike for better wages.....
if i'm not mistaken pete seeger was singing that in the 60's. south africa has been rocked by the largest single strike in our history. all the way to those in government employ. truthfully, i can't say that i'm all that supportative, except for teaching staff, healthworkers and the police,...the balance are basically, freeloading as far as i am concerned.
i deal with government departments all day, and the only criteria i can ascertain for them being employed, is no work. if you are remotely inclined to be dedicated,or at all interested in work, you need not apply.
the sunday papers were filled with columnists lambasting south africans for complaining about the strike,or even those who were complaning about crime,..as we were giving the country a bad image by going on about crime,..."bull shit", the facts speak louder than words, we have the single largest sporting event taking place in south africa, the 2010 football world cup and the authorities don't have a handle on crime. the truth is they will never sort it out. so,... we have got to do it for ourselves, the result is walled off secure suburbs, laughable, that we pay to imprison ourselves, but that's the reality,so tax payments aside, you've just gotta dig deeper into your pockets and get the security you require to survive life in sa. but that's our reality...who will be looking after the tourists arriving on our shores, perhaps your tax rand will kick in and the authorities will have visible policing. wait and see.
