despite my humming and hawing!!!!i did go to the polls yesterday to cast my vote in the local elections. my conscience just wouldn't allow me to sit back and watch the DP claim victory in my ward,...as much as i am lazy, and would rather have been sipping a cappacino and indulging in a decadent slice of chocolate cake, visions of the grinning buffoon Tony Leon, was enough to get me to join the "dreaded queue".
and it wasn't that bad, spying a friend atleast half an hour ahead of me in the queue, i went over to chat and voila, jumped the queue, good for me that the general mood was happy so no one seemed to mind.i am quite impressed by the numbers of people who turned up country wide. hopefully people will remain committed enough to excercise their rights in this way.im realising though that the votes are still split along the racial divide,in discussion with some "white" (to use old south african terminology) south african's i realise how much they still cling on to the past and the protection of their privileges, The general feeling is that they would never vote for the ruling party/ANC, as they were black and couldn't be trusted. for heaven's sake grow up,..get a life. we live in africa. or have you forgotten? and in the last 10 years the only party with any real concrete policy has unfortunately been the ruling party. the DP and Tony Leon not unlike their contemporaries in the united states spent months scaring people into believing that the only way to go is to have a strong opposition, what opposition moron? neither do you have anything intelligent to say, nor are you any less rascist than the regime before you.
that's my little soap box for the day. thanks to Tony though i was motivated to make my mark.
and in other news, have been trying unsuccessfully to motivate myself to read, but things have just been to stressfull, hoping that once i am a proud new homeowner, and in debt to the bank up to my eyeballs, things will calm down,,.ha!ha!ha! the jokes on me i suppose, cause then i'll b stressing to meet the payments, from the frying pan into the fire. and the legal jargon, on the documentation is enough to drive a sane woman to drink, had to send it to a lawyer friend to decipher.hopefully i haven't signed anything to damaging.
and so life goes on. if only someone up there would listen to me,...and i'd be the next lotto millionare, financial worries over in a jiff. and here i would be an "heiress" a la Paris Hilton.sipping pina collada's and chilling under the sun.
an active imagination obviously doesn't cost much.
