10 days away, and my city is in the throws of election fever. accusations abound regarding theft of election posters, underhanded campaigning etc,... and the comedy goes on. atleast the general populace is entertained for some time.the bonus being a day off on the first of march.
my trip to pakistan was good though, although i didn't realise that the country shuts down for two days, on muharram,...silly traveller that i am should have checked the little details. though i have to admit, that coming back home,..election fever or not,...its good to be in a place where the air is clean and the drivers stick to the rules of the road.i admire the fortitude and guts of the drivers in lahore though,...how to not panic when cars come up the wrong direction on a road is a great skill in my book. so for future reference,i will stick to be driven around by more skilled people.
i am still having to adjust myself to the way business is conducted though, i have this johannesburg mind set, once you agree on a deal you go ahead and get on with the job,..things take a little longer in pakistan though,as one sits sipping litres of chai and making small talk about things i don't quite remember anymore.
this being said,..i look forward to future trips to the sub-continent. that means brushing up on my urdu as well.and that is definitely a good thing

lahore traffic is baaad. but such is life. we learn to live with it. if you had travelled the motorway, you might have been surprised that the same drivers become different people there. its mainly because the motorway police is very strict in enforcing the law.
i hope you had a good time and its great that you will be coming back.
i did thanks. will b back soon i think
